Oregon Board of Licensed Dietitians Opportunity

Recruiting for the Board of Licensed Dietitians 

The Board of Licensed Dietitians (Board), overseen by the Health Licensing Office, is recruiting for the following vacant Board member position(s): 

• One (1) licensed dietitian
• One (1) public member 

The Board is made up of seven positions, which include four members who are licensed dietitians and have been engaged in the practice of dietetics for at least five years, two members of the public, and one physician trained in clinical nutrition. All members must be residents of the state of Oregon. 

The Board oversees the licensing and practice of dietitians, who integrate and apply principles derived from the sciences of nutrition, biochemistry, food, management, physiology, and behavioral and social sciences to achieve and maintain people's health.

Service on the Board allows members to contribute their education, knowledge, and experience when considering decisions and recommendations related to the policy, administrative rules, consumer safety, and disciplinary matters of the licensed dietitian profession. 

The dietitian voice is necessary to:

• Provide input on industry standards.
• Offer technical expertise; and
• Provide a practitioner perspective on how policy changes affect the profession.

The public member voice is necessary to: 

• Provide the consumer perspective on strategic decisions.
• Give feedback on the way current services are experienced by consumers; and
• Raise new issues of concern to consumers.

The Board meets approximately three times a year, and members can attend by teleconference or videoconference through Microsoft Teams. Members are appointed to four-year terms and may be entitled to compensation for attending meetings.
