What: Our Oregon Department of Education Nutrition Service Staff will present an update on the CACFP.

The USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program provides meals and snacks to ~3.3 million infants and children.

A variety of public or private nonprofit child care centers, Head Start programs, outside-school-hours care centers, and other institutions which are licensed or approved to provide day care services participate in CACFP.

The programs rules and meal patterns were recently updated with significant changes going in to effect next fall. This program includes not only guidance on the types of foods served, but also on feeding environment and infant and child feeding practices and breastfeeding support. That support includes providing a reimbursable meal for a nursing mother when her infant is on site, a new provision for 2017.
